Centennial has been around for quite a while. It’s a hop that was originally developed back in the 1970s and then officially released in the early 1990s. It's a citrus-forward hop with a bit of floral and a bit of woody characteristics.
Some varieties of Centennial hop trend more towards that woody side, with mahogany or sweet wood kind of character, which is often prized by many brewers. It really helps to complement the malt backbone that’s a staple of an English-style IPA.
